Secure Appraisal of Real Estate
Wüest & Partner is a major real estate consultancy in Switzerland that specialises in the appraisal of real estate. A specifically developed computer program now allows consultants to perform their daily work centrally and efficiently. The goal is to also provide mobile users with access to the application from outside the company.

IPSec for VPN Solution
Given these requirements, our team at terreActive developed a security concept and a network topology to secure access via the internet. In order to cover the many user groups and their varying IT infrastructures, we chose IPSec, the quasi-standard for virtual private networks (VPN see box). Every external user is authenticated with a personal certificate assigned individually during the installation.

Close Cooperation
The new VPN infrastructure at Wüest & Partner was set up by terreActive, who also runs and maintains this infrastructure as part of its Managed Security Services under a service level agreement (SLA). The responsibilities in providing user support were arranged so that Wüest & Partner provides 1^st level support and passes on inquiries and problems to the operations team of terreActive if necessary.
The inquiries are selected according to a jointly developed checklist, which means that they are received and processed by terreActive in a standardised form in order to provide cost-effective support to a large number of users.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)
We, as security experts, understand this technology to mean the strong encryption of data and the authentication of communication partners when electronically exchanging data via public networks.
