New E-government Platform for Canton Basle City
terreActive Performs Audit
To keep up with the sharply rising demand for e-government applications and the related security requirements, Canton Basle City decided to redesign and expand its IT security infrastructure. This redesign led to a redundant platform with basic services for email, DNS and remote access and with individual network zones for varying security requirements.
Audit as Part of Final Project Inspection
Before an infrastructure as significant as this one is cleared for operation, a full-scale functional test must be performed during the final inspection. An IT security audit was also scheduled to provide a secure basis for future egovernment services. Andreas Fritschi, staff manager at the Central Informatics Agency (ZID, Zentrale Informatik Dienststelle) responsible for awarding the contract, explains his decision as follows: “The main factors in favour of terreActive included their broad technical understanding, their focused and pragmatic approach, their fair offer and their ability to quickly adapt to the customer and to the customer’s environment and requirements.”
Valuable Recommendations
Even with the very limited timeframe, our team succeeded in gathering the required information and in preparing the follow-up analysis to the satisfaction of the customer. Another comment by Andreas Fritschi: “We were extremely pleased with terreActive’s performance. Their security audit report contained an understandable and intelligently illustrated explanation of all relevant points and evaluations as well as many valuable recommendations on how to improve security.”
